The Story Behind January 2026
Designed by Jamie, the younger family member here at Dolphin Studio, this print shows a city-like street with fireworks lighting up the sky after a New Year’s celebration. Working with only two colors was not easy. We wanted the design to feel bright and joyful, but the night sky also needed to be dark enough for the fireworks to make sense. The shimmery purple and silver paired with a light, bright blue ended up being the perfect balance.

While designing this piece, we explored a few other ideas before landing on the final version you see here.
There are also some hidden meanings in this month’s design. The letter J on the jersey represents Jamie’s initial, and the number 1 is a nod to January being the first month of the year. We love adding little Easter eggs to our calendar designs, and it is something I personally hope to do even more of in the future.

The new year often brings a fresh perspective. It is a time to reflect on the year behind us and look ahead to what is possible. New goals, new ideas, and new creative energy are always taking shape here at the studio.
What are you looking forward to this year? A friend who has also been a mentor once told me how important it is to always have something to look forward to. Even something small, like a day off a few months from now or a birthday dinner planned later this week, can make a big difference.
