The People Behind the Prints

We’re a family business that has been making calendars for 55 years! It all began with husband and wife John and Primm ffrench, and has now been passed down to their daughters, sisters and co-owners Crispina and Sofia.

Each month of our calendar is designed by a different member of the family. Jamie, Sofia’s daughter, created January. Crispina designed February. Lucy, Crispina’s daughter, did March, and so on. Every page reflects a little piece of our family’s creativity and connection.

Our day-to-day work is a true team effort, and our team may be small, but it’s mighty. Kerry is our master printer, shipper, and screen maker. She creates all of our screens and handles about 90 percent of our shipping. Kerry always goes the extra mile and has an incredible eye for detail.

I’m Lily, part of the third generation, and I handle marketing, printing, photography, and write our weekly Sunday Splash newsletter. Like my sisters and cousins, I’ve been designing a calendar page since I was about four or five years old. The calendar isn’t just a business my mom helps run—it’s a huge part of my life.

Crispina oversees product development, including our Print Club and Poster Calendar, and manages the daily operations of the studio. Lately, she’s been returning to our roots by hand-cutting all the stencils for our screens, a meticulous process she’s truly mastered.

Sofia is a full-time kindergarten teacher, but she still finds time to design products, manage all of our local pick-up orders, and weigh in on the major decisions that shape our business. She designs many of our kitchen towels and keeps our creative spark alive.

We also get help from friends, neighbors, and family whenever needed—sometimes it’s someone from down the road, other times it’s one of Crispina’s daughters lending a hand.

Together, we make a pretty great team, and we’re so proud that something that started as a family tradition and a handmade gift for friends has grown into a tradition for so many of our customers. Every year, there’s never a question of whether we’ll make another calendar. It’s simply part of who we are.

Our grandparents would be amazed and so proud to see the studio still thriving. Today, we have wholesale partners across the United States and customers around the world, yet we still print everything ourselves in small batches and keep a close connection with our community.
