Why are some of the dates highlighted?

The highlighted dates mark our family birthdays—we've been doing this since the 1980s! Some months, like December and March, are packed with birthdays, while others, like May and August, have none. It’s our way of celebrating our family and keeping the core values of being a small, family-run business alive in our designs, no matter how much we grow.

Where are you located?

Our shop began at 11 Main Street in Stockbridge, Massachusetts—that’s where it all started. Today, our main studio is in Becket, MA. We also have a small shed in Stockbridge where local customers can pick up their orders. While we no longer have a studio space in Stockbridge, our office and pick-up shed keep us rooted there.

Who designs the calendar?

Each member of our family designs a month! We start with the month you were born in, and every year you rotate through the calendar. It’s a creative tradition that keeps things fresh and personal.

What is the size of the calendar?

Each calendar measures 12 x 24 inches.

What year did you start making calendars?

Our first screenprinted calendar was made in 1972! You can explore that one—and every year since—in our calendar archive.

Why are we called the Dolphin Studio? 

The dolphin is the ffrench family crest that originated in 1425 in Ireland. Our logo today is very similar to the original crest design. 

What is Screenprinting ?

Screen printing is a printing technique where ink is pushed through a mesh screen (also called a stencil) onto a surface, typically fabric or paper. Each color in a design is applied using a separate screen.

Why don’t we show the whole calendar?

The tradition of not revealing upcoming calendar designs started naturally and has become one of the key reasons people love our calendars. We love that our customers enjoy unveiling a new design each month, so we keep the images a secret as much as possible.
