Primms birthday!

March 9th marks what would have been Primm’s 97th birthday. She passed away in 2013, and even though it’s been 13 years, it still feels like it was just yesterday.

My grandmother, Primm, was kind-hearted, calm, and always present. She loved her family and those close to her, and she also cherished quiet moments with a book or watching TV. Growing up just a few miles away from her, I was lucky to spend a lot of time with her. I remember walking over to her house in middle school to hang out—there were always cookies or cakes in the kitchen, and we’d watch TV or chat around the dining room table.

This cake recipe was a family favorite for birthdays. It originally came from our family friend Hugh Black, and my aunt Felicitas made it for Primm’s 45th birthday. After that, it became a staple at many family celebrations. It’s a simple yellow cake with a little twist—adding fruit at the end—which makes it perfect for anyone who loves a classic, homemade treat.

Although MS wasn’t discussed much during Primm’s lifetime, it affected her greatly. My aunt, Primm's daughter Felicitas, also has lived with MS for over 35 years. To honor them and support the MS community, we are donating 10% of all March sales to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA).
