The Story Behind October 2026
October 2026 is an archive calendar design from Felicitas, originally created in 1981. As you can see below, the original was printed on blue paper with black and white layered over it. When choosing to make this one our October 2026 design, we knew we would most likely need to change it up since we weren’t going to be able to use blue paper. Instead, we used white as the paper color and made the sky this beautiful blue-green. We then changed the black to a rich chocolate brown, which really tied the whole design together.

Each year, we love including a design from Felicitas, whether it’s a sketch she once made that we rework into a calendar design or a previous year’s design that we are bringing back to life. If you don’t know, Felicitas is the eldest daughter of John and Primm Ffrench, our founders. She lives in a nursing home and has a pretty serious case of MS. Unfortunately, Felicitas has been unable to make art with us for many years, but we will never stop including her in our family calendar.

Not only is this month one of my favorites, but it was also a dream to print! Every year when we’re printing, there is always a favorite month to print, and for the 2026 calendar, this one was mine. We had hardly any striations, and it didn’t use much ink. A printer’s dream!

We would love to see where you hang your October 2026 calendar! Send us a picture, and you might make it onto our Instagram or into our Sunday newsletter!

October is my favorite month also and this month’s art is beautiful from the original. However I would have preferred some fall colors instead with the mood of the season.
